You have a Hi8 in your hands

Hi8, Video Hi8, High-band video 8mm or Hi8-XR; these analogue video tapes have a magnetic tape of 8 mm (0.3 inch) in a closed cassette. They grew into one of the most popular consumer formats. Their long production time of 1989 to 2007 proves this.

The 8mm family

From the outside, this cassette looks like two similar 8mm tapes: forerunner Video8 and successor Digital8. As a matter of fact, all Hi8 equipment can play the Video8 format. This usually does not work the other way around.

… that Hi8 tapes can contain up to 30, 60 or 120 minutes of imagery (depending on the type)?
